If you are looking for a quiet hideaway by a lagoon, here’s Rambha for you. Located on the Chilka Lake, the largest brackish water lagoon in India, Rambha is perfect for peaceful vacation.

What to do

Motor boats and country boats are available. To make the most of it, you can avail the sunrise and sunset cruises. If you wish, you can pack your breakfast and hop into the boat early in the morning and have it later at the breakfast island. If you are here during the birdwatching season, it is recommened you take a country boat cruise since the sound of the motor scares the birds away.

What to eat

Fresh lobsters, shrims, crabs and fish from the Chilka make a delightful platter. However, if you are not that into seafood, there’s always the conventional Indian food available, in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian vareities.

Best Time to Visit

The birdwatching season in Chilka lasts between December and February. A host of migratory birds like Lesser Flamingos, Goliath Heron, Spot-billed Pelican can be spotted during the season. For those who would love to enjoy the rains, July to September is their time to visit Chilka.
